And I've been thinking about Pokemon a lot lately. Is Butterfree an arthropod? It displays every characteristic of one except jointed feet, which is the literal translation of the word "arthropod" from Latin. And Ivysaur, when they breathe, does their system absorb the oxygen for the animal part or the carbon dioxide for the plant part? Or both? If that, what does it exhale? And how do Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard keep those flames on their tails alight? It makes no sense. And if Snorlax is immune to food-borne diseases, can it still catch stuff like the common cold? Or AIDS? And why do all Pokemon come from eggs? Pikachu and Buizel are mammals. Their young should be born alive. And Azurill... why the #@$& is it a Normal Type? Marril and Azumarill are Water Types! Get with the program, Azurill! And with female Pokemon, think about where the sand comes from in Sand Attack. Okay, maybe that's only funny with elderly human women. With Pokemon that's kinda just gross... And another thing, why don't the legendary Pokemon have genders? They're immortal, right? And at least legendary, if not immortal! They're much too complex to be born genderless! But with every trainer the world over catching the legendary Pokemon... well, how many can there possibly be? If you think about it, there's probably as many Zapdos in the world as there are Pidgeys on Route 101. It only makes sense.
If anybody else has ever wanted to have a deep, psychological conversation about Pokemon before, please, let me know. I feel like a super mega nerd, even more than I really am.
